Frio

So this week it rained and rained, and then rained some more. My shoes are still soaking wet. its ridiculous. Also last night it was so cold.. I was like "What the Heck Brasil? You get cold?" Our house is especially cold because its made out of cement and its half way underground. Our house is freezing. So last night I unpacked all my "winter" clothes that I've never used and I slept in a long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt with leggings and yoga pants with 4 blankets and I was still cold. But its cool after this week its suppose to warm up again so I'm excited for that.

This week we are working alot with Less active members. Actually this week we visited almost twice as many less active members than investigators. But it was good because this Sunday we got 4 less active families to church!! WOOHOO!! and we also had 4 investigators at church. It was exciting. I also I got the wonderful opportunity to play the piano in sacrament meeting. So I really like playing the piano but I hate playing in front of people. I get so nervous and my fingers start to shake and I always mess up but I actually played all the hymns well and as a result the primary president asked if I would play in primary...yay.

Also this week the Ward had a cake contest.. kinda like chili cook-off we always have. We decided to make a cake and we Won most creative...haha I think we only won because our Cida and Valdir our investigators were the judges ;)
We won most creative!! Whats up!

Our beautiful cake...note* I did not make the "heart" on the left..that was Sister Cordeiro... ;)

This week was good. We talked to alot of good people with a lot of potential. I love this work. The future looks bright for São Carlos!

Love you all,

p.s. I am still wearing my leggings under my skirt..hehe and nobody knows...;)
So I met this Elder in the CTM 8 months ago and he would always try to speak to me and I was like "Eu não falo Português!!" but when I saw him for the first time here in the field he was like "What Sister Roberts, You speak Portuguese!?!?! Que isso?!" It was funny

My long lost Companion SIster Keeler..I love this woman.. enough said.

Fire in the Bathroom!!

So I come home after a long day of walking and knocking doors you know feeling completely exhausted. And as I am taking a shower I start to notice that something is burning, I think to myself, "Oh Sister Cordeiro is prob making popcorn (haha because she always burns the popcorn)" and all of the sudden my shower head starts to spark and I look up and I see that my shower head as caught on fire..I didn't even think that was possible..so that was a fun adventure..

This week was full of alot of highs and a lot of lows. We started off the week really good. We taught alot of really good lessons and we committed so many people to come to Church this week. And then Cida had a baptismal interview this, And she wants to be baptized!! WOOhoo. Unfortunately her husband doesn't want to marry her so I'm not quite sure when that will happen. Also two of our other investigators had interviews this week and have a date marked for this Saturday. So we were pretty excited about all of that.

But then on Sunday nobody came to church. We didn't have one investigator at church and normally we have 3 or 4..so sad. And then Cida called and said that her husband doesn't want us to come over anymore.. :(

We have been working really hard with some of the Less Active members here. Lucky we got 2 of the them to come to Church again this week so that was super exciting :)

Transfers were this week and I will staying her in São Carlos with Sister Cordeiro for another transfer. I love São Carlos so I'm happy.

Love you all,
Sister Roberts

Eu falo Português..What up!

So this week was stressful. But its good I am learning alot about Charity and Patience so that's good. We had Multi Zona this week which was fabulous. President gave a really good trainamento. And good news I understood every single world he said! It was beautiful. At the beginning of this transfer I decided to pack away everything English and I set good goals so that I could feel more independent with Portuguese. This transfer I have been only reading from O Livro de Mórmon and I've read almost all of the General Conference talks in Portuguese. I understand everything that people are telling me. Its beautiful. I like Portuguese.

This week a miracle happened. Cida wants to get married and get baptized. We had a couple of really good lessons with her and her family this week. But on Sunday the relief Society lesson was on baptism and all because almost all of the sisters in the Ward are converts of 10 or so years they all bore their testimony about how getting baptised and going to the temple was the best decision that they've made. I think Cida was really touched by it because when it was time to leave she just sat in her chair and didn't say anything and started to tear up. She wants to get married and she wants to get baptised. But he problem is that her husband doesn't want to get married...its difficult.

But we are hoping that our lessons this week will help Valdir have a desire to be baptized.

Also this week was Sister Cordeiro's birthday..we had festa

hope all is well

Sister Roberts

O Templo

This week was a little bit better as far as numbers go. We taught some pretty good lessons to some pretty solid people. Right now our focus is Valdir and Cida. We are trying really hard to set a wedding date with them. Last week we had a really good lesson about Temples and Eternal marriage. We talked a little bit about the plan of salvation and the celestial kingdom. And the spirit was really really strong testifying to these people about the importance of eternal families.

I love Temples

I love talking about temples, and I love the reaction these people have when they learn about how special and important temples are.

Cida and Valdir have two kids ages 15 and 10, they both were baptized 4 months ago and have really strong testimonies in Jesus Christ and eternal families.  The 10 year old is hilarious. Over and over again during our lesson he kept making comments like "Parents its really easy, just get married" "Parents I want to have an eternal family so lets go down to the court house now and sign the papers" haha it was funnier in Portuguese.

I think we finally got them to think and talk about marriage. I hope they get married, I hope they get baptized. This family is awesome.

I am so grateful temples. I am so grateful that I made the choice to go to the temple with my roommates every week while I was at BYU. I can see and feel the difference that it has made in my life.

I love you all!
